A disco inferno is coming to the Sunshine City this Friday April 27th at 6pm!
After passing final inspections on Thursday afternoon, the highly anticipated 1970s-themed nightclub, Good Night John Boy, will finally open its doors at 16 2nd Street North on the famed Jannus Block, downtown St. Petersburg’s most active area for nightlife.
St. Pete Rising broke the news about Good Night John Boy coming to town last February.
Paying homage to the days of “Saturday Night Fever,” the 4,000-square-foot Good Night John Boy will feature a lit-up, tiled dance floor complete with mirror balls, multicolored neon lights, and the largest Farrah Fawcett poster you’ve ever seen.

Start looking for your vintage patterned head wraps, bell bottoms, and platform boots because a lineup of local DJs will be playing the greatest hits from the 70s and 80s every night of the week. In addition to your favorite disco tunes, expect to hear a variety of newer music as well.
The drink menu features a wide variety of “dad beers” such as Miller High Life, Miller Lite, and Bud Light, as well as craft brews, wine, and signature cocktails with names such as Disco Punch, Dirty Ash Tray, Stop Light Shot, and Harvey Wallbanger.
In the future, a 70s-era trailer will be situated inside selling Jell-O shots, alcoholic pops, and branded merchandise ranging from trucker hats and stocking caps to fleece shorts, T-shirts, and even tie-dyed hoodies.

The new nightlife destination is being brought to St. Pete by Cleveland-based Forward Hospitality Group, which owns and operates ten restaurant and bar concepts around Ohio, including Good Night John Boy which opened in Cleveland in 2021.
The group launched their first St. Pete establishment in November with the debut of Welcome to the Farm, a live music country bar, located around the corner from Good Night John Boy at 242 1st Avenue North.
“Everybody loves the ’70s,” said Beth McLeod in an interview with St. Pete Rising, who will operate Good Night John Boy in St. Pete with her boyfriend Bobby Sotka. “Who doesn’t love ABBA and The Bee Gees? It appeals to all ages. Even the younger generation loves to experience a fun time in history they didn’t get to live through.”

This Friday and Saturday, Good Night John Boy will be open from 6 pm until late. Next week, hours expand to Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm to late, Friday from 2pm to late, and Saturday and Sunday from noon to late.
“St. Pete has everything we were looking for,” Bobby Sotka said. “We love the walkability, the density of people, and how friendly everyone has been. On the weekends, this city is electric.”
